I’m one of these characters that needs something in my life that really stretches me and right now I seem to be on a rather boring treadmill. Yes I turn up the heat on my day to day life sometimes but there is nothing massive I can focus on. However my cogs have been whirring.

Last year I joined Josie and a friend of hers, Julia, on one of their legs of a walk they had been doing. Over 4 days we walked 45 miles and I loved it. Then I was introduced to a very small part of the coastal path. This, combined with the fact that I live in a village which is on the Thames Path had me wondering. A lot! Time to stop wondering! This weekend a friend and I will be walking from Babcock Heath home along the Thames Path and that will be the start of my new goal which, in my head, is to walk all the National Trails before I die!

I have bought a whole lot of maps on this path, the Cotswold and Ridgeways and the coastal path. In August Jess has said she will join me so I think my first objective is to finish the Thames Path before then and maybe start on the coastal path with her. I absolutely loved Penzance and would really like to redo that. The train is an easy way to get down there and if I work it out we could reset my memories! Bonus! Time to get planning. Now I’m excited!

For a low calorie, high flavour dinner try combining all those lovely veggies like courgette, aubergine, spinach, cauliflower and peppers with some lightly fried onions, a tin of tomatoes and curry powder. YUM!
