Walkies!

One of my all time favourite pastimes is walking although when the rain is lashing down and it is cold outside I find it just as hard to get off the sofa as the next person. Who wants to head out into horrible weather when a hot mug of tea, warm living room and protection from your home has a firm grip, not I! Well maybe the walking club Bernie and I are setting up will help.
I live in a little village in Sandford on Thames in Oxford on Tuesday and Friday we will be inviting the villagers to come join us to go for a walk. Tuesday is for the early birds as we will be up and out at 07:00 and on Friday will be for an afternoon stroll at 14:00. If we get enough interest we may even introduce a weekend session.
Walking offers so many benefits I cannot help but encourage others to join in. It is gentle on the body, gets us outside in the fresh air, is a social activity but instead of sipping on coffee and eating cake we are exercising. I’m even considering re-introducing my Walk to Work Wednesday. Not that I am walking but if I walked into the city every Wednesday who knows who might be inspired to join me?
All I have to do now is create a little poster to stick up in our local village hall to get the word out, that is even harder than doing the actual walking! But given not everybody has social media, email or even a computer it is somewhat imperative to achieve our objectives.
